...from the bar at Scores Bar, Grand Rapids:
Mark Ewing and Tony Signore met up at Scores Bar on East Beltline and completed the ardous task of setting the seeds. While Mark went with the BlackNBleau Burger, with LaBatts, Tony went for some sort of Turkey Wrap, I believe, with ole number 9 beer. Both parties agreed to go with the waffle fries.
On to business: Top Seeds for Mark in the Good Bracket: 1-Rolling Stones, 2- Waylan Jennings, 3- Belle & Sebastian.
Top seeds in Tony's Andrew Jackson bracket: 1- Greg Allman, 2- Kings of Leon, 3- George Jones.
Mark's other bracket, (The Ugly) is lead by 1-Keith Richards, 2-John Hiatt, and 3-Ween.
Tony has his Longstreet Bracket lead by 1-Ian Hunter, 2-Nick Lowe, and 3-Radiohead.

Ewings Downs Syndrome Takes down Devo, The Strokes.
Starting off a bit tentative on using the Down Sydrome Move, Signore picked on 9-Devo to switch places with 14-The Avett Brothers. "Signore had said some pompous ass things about the Avett Brothers in the past, mainly because he didn't know them, then right before the draft, he actually listened to them and liked them. He tricked himself as much as he tricked me. They are on Tumble Recovery", said Ewing. "I'm good with the move anway. I'd like to see the Avett Brothers go far."
Frank Lalonde escaped a bullit. His controversial pick of "The RadioActive Chicken Heads" was not popular. Most experts including Dick Vitale figured TRCH to be vanquished down to the 15-seed. Signore, perhaps to piss Mark off, left them sitting at 10. "Why couldn't he have gone with his favorite female vocalist of all-time in Samantha Sang?", wondered Mark.

Later, Mark Ewing had to stare at length at Tony's chart to make a move. Ultimately, going with his plan to put Iconic bands higher up than normal, he moved the 6-Strokes, down to the 11-spotted AC/DC. "I want the old Bon Scott CD, ya know, I think it is called "Outage"(sic) {Ed. note: "Powerage" probably what he was thinking of, but he meant "High Voltage}, clucked a morose Signore. The move put AC/DC into the welcomed 6-hole. Tony actually sang a bit of "It's a Long Way to the Top".
"Tony's chart looks OK, it is a formidable line-up said Ewing. "George Jones at 3, Nick Lowe at 2, Steve Earle at 5 sort of surprised me, but I can live with it. I feel a little bad for 16-Robert Plant and 13-Eric Clapton, but otherwise he kept his crap down pretty low, I guess I can work with this stuff. Jessie Colter-8 and 9-Robert Johnson are seeded way too high, but my boys can blow their asses sky high out of the water, we don't even need to see them after the first round.
Tony Signore was philisophical. "You know, it's like a bike. You know how to ride a bike. You buy a new bike. 3 minutes into your ride on your new bike, you fall down like an idiot in front of Seth. You heard me right, you try to hop a curb and instead you tumble down in slow motion with your coat and body falling flacid on the cold sidewalk. In the first 3 minutes of riding it. Dear God."
True to form, Ewing plugged his 6-9 seeds with veteran rockers 7-Led Zeppelin, 8-Pink Floyd, 9-Gerry Rafferty, 7-Lynyrd Skynyrd, and 8- Bob Seger. "We will lose a few in this group, but those that prevail will open up holes and cause great bloodshed to the Signore Band of Idiots. Signore will wake up one day and see his guys GONE. He will see my veteran squadron marching through to victory. Signore will fart very loudly. Which is what I want, well not what I want but what will happen."
The Cars, got a lot of late publicity, got a 5-seed in the Ugly bracket. Dick Vitale called that move surprising. "I thought The Cars would be a 2 or a 3, but Ewing is a stickler on the cone drill and they did not perform well there."
4-Jeff Healey is perhaps a bit of a surprise as well. Dead and blind, Healey was viewed as a good, but not great performer. "He helped me win the death pool a while back, he, alone, with his early death, pretty much won it for me. I have no problem at all paying homage to Jeff Healey. I hope he beats the shit out of Wayne Hancock.", said Ewing
